Order Journals

What if journaling could change your life?

Words hold power to change things.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "letting a word read you"?
I learned it in undergrad and it's a process where you notice, listen, wonder, and ask questions about why a word reverberates in your life, in your story, or in your curiosity.

Experts  say it takes seven meaningful exposures to learn a word. Since not every exposure is meaningful, it could take closer to 20 or 30 exposures. And these exposures can't all come in the same day. A word is really “acquired” when you've seen it again and again over a period of time–weeks and months. One-word journals give you a chance to experience and define a word in new ways. Why journaling?

Journaling is a powerful way to manage stress, lower anxiety, and harness creativity.

But it's not always easy to know where to begin.

One-word journals help you focus and get creative.

A one-word journal is a focused strategy for creative journaling.

Rewrite a word in the context of very different days, tell a story, or develop a scene. It's a word, a poem, a question, a dream, it's anything you want it to be.

In a busy world that lacks focus, you can sit with one word and allow it to help you create meaning.

One Word Journals are created by English Degree, an imprint by author and bookshop owner, Brooklyn Lindsey.
